Transgender women are not legally considered women: The Supreme Court’s historic ruling that the definition of a woman is tied to “biological sex” may prevent transgender people from using single-sex places.

‘The unanimous conclusion of this court is that the words ‘woman’ and’sex’ in the Equality Act 2010 pertain to biological woman and biological sex,’ stated Lord Hodge while delivering the ruling.

“We unanimously allow the appeal in a judgment written by Lady Rose, Lady Simler, and myself, with which Lord Reed and Lord Lloyd-Jones agree,” he said.
