After their twin kids were reportedly discovered being eaten alive by rats in their run-down trailer home, two South Carolina parents are being charged.
After calling 911 to report seeing their six-month-old daughter smeared in blood, Akayla and Justin Bearden, both 24 years old, were taken into custody on Friday.
Upon arrival, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office officers discovered that the infant girl and her twin brother had several bite wounds and cuts from the rodents.
The child had bite wounds on her head, ears, cheeks, arms, and back that were deep enough to draw blood when she was discovered in her cot.
Deputies said she will be in the hospital for a few days after she was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, which is close to their home in Belton, South Carolina.
