A 10-year-old girl is shown on camera being beaten by a USPS mail carrier outside of an elementary school.

The case was never sent as directed in spite of that suggestion. Only when news station WOIO inquired did the municipal prosecutor’s office obtain the pertinent records on April 16, 2025.

The city prosecutor’s office acknowledged that they were unaware of the matter until April 17, over seven months after the original occurrence, when CMSD sent the reports.

Given that CMSD has expressed a wish to continue the case, the city prosecutor’s office is currently awaiting a meeting with CMSD detectives to explore possible charges.

But since that conversation, no firm steps have been taken. The postal worker refused to comment when WOIO reached out to them.

The U.S. Postal Service also disassociated itself from the incident, with Postal Inspector Ian Ortega of Cleveland claiming that the subject is under local authority because the employee was in uniform but off duty.

CMSD has not explained why the matter wasn’t sent sooner, until the media got involved.
