Your life really starts when you learn to love and respect who you are.
After more than a year of marriage, Nikkie thought her life was ideal, but when her husband Jack began going to the gym regularly, things began to change. She was first pleased for him as it was clear that he was growing more and more content with his appearance, but as time went on, he became so fixated on it that he felt the need for Nikkie to change as well.
He would tell her that he wished she looked like Instagram models who had ideal proportions.
Her self-esteem suffered as a result of his incessant reminder that she didn’t look like someone from a fashion magazine cover. She attempted to dismiss his mention of her having breast implant surgery.
When he gave her money for breast implants and a note that said, “Time to upgrade those mosquito bites,” on her birthday, it was the final straw.
Her world was shattered by these words. She came to the realization that he didn’t love her for who she was and made her change in order to please him.
Despite being extremely upset, Nikkie grinned and said “thank you,” but she knew deep down that she had to give him a lesson he would never forget.
For the sake of her own health, she chose to use the money to beautify herself rather than grant her husband’s dying requests. She bought some expensive clothes, had a new haircut, went to the spa for a day, and treated herself to some facial treatments. Before allowing anyone to alter her for the sake of their perverted idea of what a woman should look like, she was happy to realize that she loved herself just the way she was.
She packed all of Jack’s possessions in a number of boxes and changed all the locks on the day of the alleged surgery. Then she gave him an envelope containing the remaining funds and a note that said, “This is your upgrade.” Look for someone who satisfies YOUR requirements.
Jack pleaded with Nikkie to give him another chance after he saw how determined she was to break off all contact with him, but she knew better than to be with someone as shallow as him.
