Following millions of views on a video of her “empty” wedding, the bride responds to fan concerns. She discloses the number of people that sent RSVPs but did not attend, along with the reason they are currently “deleting a lot of people out of our lives.”
In Saint Helens, Oregon, a woman and her boyfriend were married after ten months of planning and over five years of engagement. When no one showed up, they were saddened and began to question their connections.
A woman named Kalina Marie shared her bizarre experience on TikTok in a video that went viral last week.
“POV: You made the most beautiful entrance. The video showed her, her husband, and her child entering their reception, which was mostly empty save for a few attendees. She added, “Just to open the doors to an empty venue,” over the footage.
“We enter our masquerade party in this manner. I have been discussing the masquerade event a lot for the last 10 months. Additionally, I sent out digital invitations to the same ball to over 75 people. But she also paid to send out twenty-five beautiful invitations,” she wrote as the photo’s caption.
“FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!! She claims that although the invites said to arrive at 1pm on the wedding day, her mother first told her that nobody was there at 1:15. She went on, “Like, are you kidding me!?!?”
“At a place meant for forty,” she writes, “my spouse and I arrived at two o’clock to a group of five people.”
“I dreamed that I would walk into a crowd of people who were cheering us on. You see a woman trying to keep herself together because she didn’t know how to handle her venue being almost empty, but they’re yelling and cheering for us,” Kalina added.
The woman claimed that despite all of the “Wasted food and drinks,” the party in attendance was still able to make the most of the day.
“It just makes me wonder: why? What did we do? Am I truly that bad of a person? What did my husband do to deserve all of this? “Why couldn’t we be important enough for people to come?” she said. “I still haven’t received any messages from several of my ‘friends’ congratulating me or explaining why they couldn’t make it. It makes me quite ill. I must admit that I still don’t understand this.
However, she concluded her statement by writing, “I simply know that I have my boyfriend. My sweetheart. and family members who support me when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful ❤️.
Influencer Mama Tot was one of the many people who left a remark on Kalina’s post, saying, “This hurts my heart for you.” “I still made the most of my night, so don’t worry, mother tot 🥰 In a later post, the bride responded, “With my mom, my cousin, and my closest friend.”
A video of the small group dancing to “Everybody” by the Backstreet Boys was also supplied by her, proving that a good time was still had despite the absences.
Several comments called for a “do-over,” and everyone who watched the video promised to go to the wedding of the newlyweds if they tried again. Thanking the suggestion, Kalina said she never thought her video would gain as much popularity as it has. According to her, the bride had only 6,000 followers when she uploaded the first video; now, it has about 9 million views, and she has 20,000 followers.
“I am completely overworked. between feeling the love and support of TikTok. But we also have to deal with the grief of losing a lot of people in our lives. It has been an emotional roller coaster since everything happened just last Saturday,” she stated in another video.
“Thank you so much for suggesting a redo; wouldn’t that be amazing? But I actually only need my tiny group, as several of you have pointed out. Additionally, I can clearly tell who is and is not supporting me,” she added. “I will just be forever grateful that so many people got to see the entrance I dreamed about for so long 😭❤️🫶🏽😭❤️🫶🏽”
In other recordings, Kalina referred to herself as the woman “who got stood up by all my friends and family,” and she also stated that the couple got engaged in December 2019 before the pandemic and other issues forced a delay. Since they declared their wedding date in January, she said that “for the past 10 months, I have been blabbing about this” on social media. “I even created a Facebook event and sent out 25 invitations to people who aren’t online,” she stated.
“We prepared for the 40 RSVPs I received. We set up the room for forty people. She continued, “My mom is a chef, and she prepared enough food for 40 people.” “I checked in with everyone the week of [the wedding] and at least 20 people had gotten back to me saying they had an outfit and they were coming.”
But that didn’t happen.
“I’m not sure, but why is the most crucial question. If I could answer that question, I would tell you. According to her, “for the most part, we’ve done a lot of deleting and re-evaluating our lives and spending a lot of time appreciating what we have and what we had.” “I haven’t received a lot of messages explaining why people weren’t there or giving excuses,” she stated.
She later acknowledged that among those present were her cousin and best friend. “To all those people who had this happen to them, I am truly very sorry because I wouldn’t even with this on my worst enemy,” she said. “I couldn’t have done any of this without them or made it through any of it without them,” she stated.
In reaction to some who conjectured that she “must be such a horrible person” because of her situation, Kalia shared another video on Wednesday as her tale continued to receive attention.
“Imagine hating on someone you don’t even know because you’re jealous of the attention they got for one of the most embarrassing moments of their life 👌🏽 yes im a real person,” she wrote in a clip of herself at the fitness center.
“Yes, I do have true feelings. True enough, I’m still sorting everything out. I really appreciate all of the kind and complimentary comments that have been expressed,” she added. “I will take them and keep them with me always 🫶🏽 much love to you all 🫶🏽”
While acknowledging that she was appreciative of individuals who offered to set up a GoFundMe for her, Kalina asked viewers to send her wedding cards, along with a PO Box address.
PO Box 1047, Saint Helens, Oregon 97051, Kalina and Shane is the address.
