The diver who is the world champion leaps down the extreme water slide in violation of the sign that reads, “no women.”

This is exactly what Australian professional diver Rhiannan Iffland went through when she visited an Austrian water park and saw a slide that was reserved for men.

Rhiannan was a high-diver with experience in extreme water sports, having successfully made dives from as high as 20 meters (66 feet).

However, this adventure would be very different from everything she had accomplished in the past.

The 33-year-old discovered that there was a clear “no women” sign on one of the scariest slides at the Area 47 adventure park in Austria.

Rhiannan, ever the renegade, sprang on the slide to discover what wasn’t there for her and the others.

“Women are not supposed to do this slide,” Rhiannan is heard stating in the video, but she chooses to ignore the advice in favor of “YOLO.”

Rhiannan may be seen shouting in joy or dread as she travels down the 50 mph slide after the diver’s mate checks her in.

When she uploaded the video to Instagram, she captioned it, “Here for a good time not a long time!” One more example of YOLO.

Why are women not allowed on the Area 47 adventure park’s slide in Austria?
Following the video’s global success, many individuals began to question why a slide excluded over half of the adult population.

Was sexism at play here? A sophisticated practical joke?

No, the cause turns out to be health and safety.

In recent years, they have allegedly ‘ripped apart’ women’s insides on high-speed water slides.

which sounds awful, if I’m being completely honest.

According to the US National Library of Medicine, women can sustain terrible injuries if high-pressure water enters their bodies, in addition to the potential for infections from the foreign objects in the water.

When you put it that way, the safety warning makes perfect sense.

Rhiannan would later justify her decision to appear on the slide in an interview with news.com.au, stating that it was “never my intent to mock the safety regulations.”

“A person’s safety is paramount and I am constantly weighing up any danger with my job,” she stated. “To suggest otherwise, is wrong.”

Area 47 Adventure Park responded to the extensively circulated video by telling LADbible Group that while the slide was originally open to both men and women, regulations have since been changed due to “a significant increase in accidents on this slide.”

“This led to a difficult decision: either disassemble the water slide or restrict its use to men only, as it stands now,” a spokesperson said.

“Our highest priority is ensuring the safety and happiness of all our guests, regardless of gender.”
